Gearing up for Creativation+: Dynasty's Scenic Fitch Brush in Action!

As you know, the events of 2020 made us rethink how we can gather safely. Lots of in-person events that Dynasty and FM Brush Company regularly attend were cancelled. Although we missed seeing you in person last year, we look forward to interacting with you safely at virtual events this year! First up is Creativation+, a combined online event with AFCI Creativation and NAMTA taking place next week March 15-19, 2021.

As we lead up to Creativation+, we have been giving some of our favorite blog posts an "encore." This week we are taking an opportunity to reintroduce our Scenic Fitch XL. This brush, with its extra long handle, is designed specifically for scenic artists--painters who paint large backdrops and scenery pieces for theatre, opera, performing arts, and entertainment. This blog post originally ran in 2017.

Scenic Artist Taryn Pasco, photo appears courtesy of Kristian Perry.

In the photo above, Taryn Pascoe, a Scenic Art Apprentice at Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse, paints a piece of scenery for the show Pinkalicious: The Musical. Under direction from Scenic Charge Artist Kristian Perry, Taryn applies paint following the artist's rendering provided by scenic designer Tucker Topel

Because scenic artists paint on such a large scale, the extended wooden handle allows the painter to work at a comfortable distance away from the scenery while still maintaining control. If you stand too closely to the large unit you are painting, you risk getting caught up in details that won't be seen by the audience or working too "tight". That is not good for the art you are creating and it hinders productivity. The Dynasty Scenic Fitch XL provides space needed to give the artist perspective to see the big picture--literally! The Dynasty Scenic Fitch XL is just like our other line of scenic fitch brushes--made with strong, triple boiled white bristles secured into an oval ferrule on a kiln-dried white birch handle--with one BIG difference. The XL part of its name stands for eXtra Long handle!

Do you have a photo of you or a fellow artist using our Scenic Fitch XLs or any other Dynasty brush? We'd love to see it! Share it with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram
