Helen Sturgeon was our winner a few months back, receiving a dozen Black Gold brushes to support her work as a watercolor artist. Since then she has been painting with them regularly in her floral watercolors. Helen shares that the rounds hold water nicely and the angular flats are ideal for painting veins in leaves.
Since Helen started her work a few years back, she has been drawn to painting in a "romantic realist" style, working primarily on flowers. Her inspiration is drawn from a grandmother with a beautiful flower garden, those memories being revived as she works from flowers now. Helen has been able to take workshops in the North Carolina area with Elly Hobgood and at the John C. Campbell Folkschool.
Thank you for sharing your work with us, Helen.
Keep Painting,
Karyn
